What is up with the flashing heads of the Commandos?

During the game, Commando facial icons on the Top Menu will flash in certain situations. This should alert you when your men are in trouble.

Red Flash = Commando is being shot
Blue Flash = The enemy has spotted the Commando

How does the career ranking system work?
There are two variables to be considered:

Sustained damage - You will have 60 points at the start of the mission Each time you are injured you lose health and some points. If you maintain:
  • Between 50 and 60 points, you will have 3 silver stars
  • Between 40 and 50 points, 2 silver stars
  • Between 30 and 40, 1 star
  • Below 30 no stars, No soup for you!

Time consumed - According to CPU speed (to avoid differences between fast and slow computers) we will measure the time it takes your to complete the main mission objective. You will have:
  • 3 silver stars if you do it fast (close to our testers)
  • 2 if you are just ok. (up to 20% more time)
  • 1 if you are a tad slow (up to 40% more time)
  • 0 if you need more training

Then, your stars are averaged (i.e. 2 silver for damage, and 2 silver for time = 1 gold) and then you are awarded the result in gold stars. Each time you earn 10 stars you are promoted 1 rank. The ranks are as follows:
  • Major
  • Colonel
  • Brigadier
  • General
  • Field-Marshall (You are the best and could easily write the Strategy Guide!)

Note: In Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty you start as a Major not an Enlisted man.

What happens if I select a Commando but I cannot see him on the map?
If you activate your Commando, but cannot see him on the map, this feature can help. HOLD the SHIFT key and click on the Commando Icon of that soldier. Then you will see a RED circle and arrow reveal his location.
